INDIA’s Richest man Mukesh Ambani to reside in the world’s most expensive house, This beautiful house of the business tycoon took 7 years to be completed for a whopping sum of close to two billion dollars making it the world’s largest and costliest house! (If one could call it a house!) It was built under the guidance of US architecture firms Perkins and Will & Hirsch Bedner Associates. This dream house of the Ambani’s has 27 floors and it is believed that the materials used in one floor have not been used in any other floor to lend a sense of novelty to each floor.

The Ambani family will be residing in the top four floors which measures about 37000 square meters. The first six floors of this mansion have been turned into the parking area which has a capacity to accommodate 168 cars. And if you thought that is all this house has, well, this is not over yet!

There are many more things in this house which leave us amazed and stupefied by its grandeur and scale. The next floor has a lobby and 9 elevators. Along with all these luxuries there’s a theatre which can be occupied by 50 people. Not to miss the health spa, gym, dance studio, swimming pools and guest rooms that occupy the other floors. A provision has also been made for 3 helipads with its own traffic control. Surely in Antilia, Ambani has got himself everything without having to step out. The architect definitely deserves appreciation for creating something so wonderful.

40 dead as 28-storey apartment block is engulfed in flames

At least 40 people have been killed by a blazing fire in a high-rise residential building in the business centre of Shanghai, on the east coast of China.

A further 90 people were also injured in the incident, which took place at 2pm local time (6am GMT) today in the Jingan district.

Building materials caught fire, and the blaze spread to scaffolding and then to the 28-storey building, home to retired teachers, the official Xinhua News Agency reported.

More people could have been hurt, but the 28-storey apartment block was being renovated.

This object was caught on video by a CBS News traffic helicopter during Monday night's rush hour.
The Defense Department hasn't claimed ownership of it, and speculation that it could be a commercial rocket launch is also in doubt because it wasn't reported to the Federal Aviation Administration.
"We didn't approve any commercial launches in the area," Ian Gregor, an FAA spokesman for the Western-Pacific Region, told AOL News. He referred any questions about possible military launches to the North American Aerospace Defense Command. also he said "there is no indication of any threat" to the United States. more...

International airlines cancelled flights into Indonesia's capital Saturday after a volcano hundreds of kilometres to the east unleashed its most powerful eruption in a century, incinerating villagers as they fled a searing gas cloud. The number of people killed by Mount Merapi in the last two weeks climbed to 138, as a tiny hospital at the foot of the mountain struggled to cope with survivors, some with burns on up to 95 per cent of their bodies. The only sign of life in one man, whose eyes were milky gray and never blinked, was the shallow rising and falling of his chest. Others, their lungs choked with abrasive volcanic ash, struggled to breathe.

Indonesia's most volatile mountain unleashed a surge of searing gas, rocks and debris Friday that raced down its slopes at highway speeds, mowing down the slope-side village of Bronggang and leaving a trail of charred corpses in its path. It continued to rumble and groan Saturday, at times spitting ash up to eight kilometres in the air, dusting windshields, rooftops and leaves on trees hundreds of kilometres to the west.

Just days before President Barack Obama's visit to Indonesia, international carriers cancelled flights to the capital, Jakarta, over concerns about the volcano 450 kilometres away.
